OUR PROGRAMS

CAPS: Child and Parent Success

The CAPS program is an extremely successful program that focuses on building healthy relationships between parents and their children. The program’s success lies in its ability to teach participants the skills and techniques necessary to contribute to one another’s success. Parents and children leave the program with the ability to build and maintain healthy relationships based upon better communication. The program is divided into two workshops and runs out of local schools.

All-Stars

All-Stars is Virsa’s youth basketball program and is run in collaboration with the Delta Police Department and the Delta School District. Once a week, our drop-in program allows youths to improve their basketball skills, engage in friendly competition, and build rapport with the Virsa volunteers that oversee the program. The program’s schedule changes with the Summer/Fall seasons to ensure youths get an appropriate balance of staying active and involved.

Mentorship

Our exciting mentorship programs, which continue to grow, promote youth self-esteem, self-worth and enable youths to envision and actualize their own potential. As school based programs, each mentorship program caters to the students’ and schools’ needs. The project based twelve week programs allow youths to tap into their leadership skills while taking ownership roles on various projects. The projects, which benefit other community organizations, are designed to allow youths to experience the fulfillment of community involvement and to see how individual efforts can make a difference.

Inspirational Speaker Series

Who has inspired you lately? Our inspirational speaker series launched Fall-2009 with motivational speaker Rick Bains will highlight a unique individual every month. Speakers from various backgrounds and walks of life will share their successful and inspirational stories with the community. The program, while still in its infancy, is rapidly gaining popularity with the growing list of exceptional speakers. Virsa is already fortunate enough to have the support of such speakers as Jet Sunner from the RCMP, Vikram Vij of Vij’s and Rangoli Restaurants, Grant Acheson from Canadian Reserves, and Arvinder Bubber from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
